Heavy duty excavator to boost quarry output

A new 50-tonne class excavator manufactured by Hitachi is reportedly offering dependability and operator comfort while working under demanding quarry conditions.

The Hitachi ZX490-7 is helping to extract sand and gravel for construction supplier KSV, in the Upper Swabia region of Germany. The cutting-edge machine was selected for its precision work, reliability, safety and well-considered design for drivers. 

Bochtler, an operator of the new equipment, was especially impressed with the lower vibration and noise levels inside the cab. He commented that the ZX490-7 was substantially quieter than the previous model used on site.

Durable and dependable, heavy-duty bolt clamps are critical components fitted in quarry excavators. Hydraulic hose and barrel clamps help excavators endure the most high-pressure hydraulic operations and extreme vibrations. These heavy-duty bolt clamps (often bolt and barrel or T-bolt style) are utilised to securely route, sleeve and effectively lock the equipment’s hydraulic hoses. 

As well as helping minimise vibration and noise, these specialised clamps can also prevent hose leaks and failures and are engineered to hold up under challenging mining and quarry environments. The new excavator is also designed to work with the ConSite Pocket application, helping optimise uptime. The onsite team use it to keep track of scheduled operating time and the current quality of both hydraulic fluid and engine oil which are monitored by sensors. Monthly reports reveal the excavator’s efficiency, downtime and productivity.
