Die Springs

Our large range of high quality springs includes ISO10243 - European Standard.

Die springs are heavy duty metal compression springs specifically designed to be used in a die set tool or as heavy duty coil springs in any heavy load application. They can be manufactured from either rectangular or round wire, and to various standards. They are divided into a rising load range and colour coded for easy identification.

At SpringXpert, our available range of high-quality die springs includes options designed for different applications. These include light load die springs and medium load die springs, but also heavy load and extra heavy load die springs.

What are die springs?

High-compression mechanical springs, die springs are engineered to manage extreme loads in the most severe industrial environments. They are specifically designed for applications that involve repeated heavy force being applied within a confined space.

Is a die spring the same as a compression spring?

Die springs are part of the compression spring family; however, they differ from most because they are a high force compression spring. Designed to consistently provide predetermined pressure at a specific level of compression, these springs are a good fit for applications involving extreme operating conditions, such as high temperatures and loads.

What do the colours of die springs mean?

Die spring colours indicate their stiffness and load capacity. Spring manufacturers in different countries use different colour coding systems.

As a result, it is critical to understand which standard the spring follows to avoid mechanical damage. In the ISO European Standard, green die springs indicate extra light load, and blue medium load. Red die springs are designed for heavy loads, and yellow extra heavy loads.

What are die springs used for?

Die springs are widely used in a diverse range of applications. These include heavy machinery, press tools and injection moulding machines, as they can deliver a dependable long-lasting performance while working under high stress in intensive conditions.

For instance, in metal stamping processes, die springs can ensure consistent tool return and maintain precise component formation - even when machinery performs thousands of cycles a day.

What can custom spring manufacturers offer?

At SpringXpert, our experienced technical engineers also provide a bespoke service. We can create custom made die springs to order that suit specific requirements or answer operating conditions and challenges. Connect with our team for a quote for non-standard springs today.
